Lil’ Buffalo Fly Shop

In addition to our full-service fly shop in nearby Walden, we also provide our guests a smaller, more intimate offering at our on-site fly shop; The Lil’ Buffalo. Located along the banks of Buffalo Creek and just a couple hundred yards from the lodge, guests will find flies, terminal tackle, and all other necessary gear available for purchase. Fishing licenses must be purchased before arrival to the ranch.

ORVIS rods, reels, waders, and boots, are available for our guests to use free of charge.

We encourage guests to bring any of your own equipment that you are accustomed to and feel comfortable with. Additionally, guests should bring polarized sunglasses, rain gear, sweater or fleece jacket and pants for layering, day-style backpack, fishing vest or pack, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and a hat (one for warmth, one for blocking sun). Please remember that summer weather at 9,000 feet is unpredictable, at best. Temperatures can reach 85 degrees during the day and dip down to freezing at night time. The sun is also intense at this elevation; lightweight, long-sleeve shirts will provide protection from both UV rays and mosquitoes. Having various layers of clothing is the best way to prepare for changing weather conditions.
